"My daughter was referred to Dr. Sharon by her orthodontist due to an issue where her mouth was often open, and her tongue would protrude. This caused a significant gap between her upper and lower jaws, as her tongue was pushing her teeth forward. Dr. Sharon diagnosed her with Orofacial Myofunctional/Feeding Disorder, characterized by an atypical oral resting posture, intermittent lips-apart chewing, and an interdental swallow pattern. She then prescribed a course of targeted exercises to address these issues.

Our first appointment with Dr. Sharon was in February, and six months later, at a follow-up with the orthodontist, we compared recent photos of my daughter's bite to earlier ones. The orthodontist was amazed at the progress - a 50% reduction in the gap between her jaws in just six months! It's truly an impressive result, and I couldn't be happier.

I also want to emphasize that Dr. Sharon is not only highly skilled but also incredibly kind, patient, and empathetic. My daughter enjoys every session with her and always looks forward to their next meeting. We are both excited to continue working with Dr. Sharon.

"Cannot say enough good things about Lynn, who was my son Lorenzo's speech therapist for 7 months. Lorenzo started his therapy with Lynn at the age of 2 with only a few words (expressive speech delay), and was a frustrated little boy. Within only a few months, he was speaking in 2-3 word sentences and was a completely different child because he was no longer frustrated about his inability to communicate effectively. Lynn truly loves her job and goes above and beyond for the families she works with. "After speaking with our daughter's pediatrician, we still felt that she struggled to make certain sounds when speaking. We weren't sure if she had a stutter or if she simply just had trouble finding her words. Friends suggested Ratiner & an initial screening & findings occurred when she was 3 years old; at that time it was determined that she didn't need services. But, when she turned 4, we still felt like we wanted someone to work with her because it appeared to us that she was having trouble. Ms. Lynn worked with our daughter for only a few months. Yet, from the very beginning, our daughter warmed up to her & looked forward to their weekly meetings. "Back when my son started having stuttering issues at the age 3.5 years, we sought the help of Lynn at Ratiner. From the get-go Lynn connected very well with my son and that connection strengthened over the ten months that followed where my son was extremely excited ahead of every session. As a seasoned professional, Lynn addressed the issue holistically, and went over and beyond. She advised us on seeing an ENT to address potential issues in my son's airways that could affect his speaking abilities, gave us a list of questions that we passed on to our son's dentist and also passed some documents to read for my sons teachers. It was amazing how the techniques that she applied evolved as his stuttering subsided to challenge him further. Over time not only did he improve, but also, he gained in self- confidence.

Lynn has taken a substantial amount of time to help us understand the root causes of the issue and how we can contribute to helping my son. Her guidance was priceless. She kept us informed of the techniques she was using and how we could apply them at home on a daily basis. Furthermore, Lynn, was always available to discuss my son's case even after hours.

"Working with a developmentally delayed child for Speech is a herculean task because it is literally the process of rewiring the brain. My son was diagnosed with Autism and has severely delayed speech. It is clear that Ratiner Speech services prioritizes children at all levels from the director, to the therapists, to the administrative staff. Miss Lynn, Shane's therapist, consistently goes above and beyond for Shane. Miss Liza, who offers administrative support has advocated for our son on multiple occasions with our insurance provider to ensure that he received quick services since his needs were quite developmentally sensitive.
